Tishomingo State Park
Sunday morning, October 8th, had us enjoying Tishomingo State Park in Mississippi. The park is actually off the Natchez Trace Parkway and was named after a Chickasaw Indian Chief. There were miles of beautiful trails! These photos were taken while on our walk. This cabin is restored and dates to 1940, it was used by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Camp) - they are the group that made the improvements to the park.
Here is a view of Bear Creek, which dumps into Haynes Lake, while we were standing on the Swinging Bridge. The next photo shows the Swinging Bridge which was built in 1939. There is a sign above the entrance which says - "No more than 5 people on the bridge" at one time and "No Swinging!"
Parts of the trail take you to some rock formations, and then you can turn around to be right at Bear Creek.
